I’m Back!!!

Michael Jordan said “I’m Back” when he returned to the NBA in 1995.

Well, I’m Back, at least back to writing about Travel and Photography.
It has been nearly four years since I last posted.
You are entitled to ask “Where have you been?” and I will try to answer.

In 2020 we had several trips planned, but these were canceled because of Covid. But the main change that occurred was my wife Susan’s diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease. We continued to safely do some camping trips despite Covid. Eventually, however, even camping became difficult for Susan, and all travel ceased. I became a full-time caregiver. And then earlier this year my beloved Susan passed away after a journey through Alzheimer’s.

My wife had been a psychotherapist, and I learned a lot from her, including coping skills. I participated in several Dementia Caregiver Support Groups, and they were invaluable to me. I have had therapy, and I know the value of Grief Support Groups.

My photography has provided me with comfort throughout this journey. I have wonderful pictures of Susan that I still frequently go through. The photos from the many great trips we have taken provide wonderful memories.

This is my favorite picture of Susan, taken in Sweden in 2015. The image at the top of this page was taken probably in 1972.

Susan was a wonderful, amazing woman, and I learned so much from her. I feel incredibly fortunate that we were married for 51 years. If you want to know more about this remarkable woman, click HERE:

As I said, I learned a lot from Susan. This includes that I need to “get back on the horse” and continue to live my life, and that includes travel and photography.
