We first camped at Valley of the Gods. This is BLM land, which means the camping is free, and that there are no amenities. No restrooms, no picnic tables. Based on my online research, I had the GPS coordinates for a primo campsite about 7.5 miles in on the dirt road. While we saw decent campsites along this road, closer to the main highway, I am glad we took the 30 min to drive to my researched site. It was gorgeous, surrounded by beautiful rock formations, and completely private. Wonderful photos.
We were all by our selves. Complete privacy.
The night time sky was fabulous.
Here we are in daytime.
Nice Campsite!
We took day trips to see Gooseneck State Park and the Mexican Hat rock structure.
We also went to Bluff Utah where they were having a special event called the Founders Day and Frybread Festival. We liked the sign that said Bluff from 650 AD.
There were a bunch of Mormon Pioneer events…
… and they had rides around the small town…
… but what we really enjoyed were the cultural programs put on by the Ute Tribe and by the Navajo Tribe.
There were rock structures and petroglyphs nearby.
After several nights in Valley of the Gods, we moved on to Monument Valley…..
David,
Wonderful photos! Looks like you chose well and had a great time.
